Call for Volunteers (Remote Position)
Do you want to help make RSECon24 happen? We are looking for volunteers to join our team and help us deliver the eighth annual conference for Research Software Engineering! The conference is taking place online and in-person in Newcastle between the 2nd and 6th of September 2024.
What will I do?
This application is for remote positions for RSECon24 roles. Volunteers participate in a wide range of tasks which help us deliver a successful conference. Primarily, you’ll act as a first point of contact should any delegates need assistance during the conference, making sure everyone feels welcome and valued.

What skills, experience and attributes do I need?
We ask that you are friendly and enthusiastic about creating a warm and welcoming environment for a successful conference. You should also be willing to work as part of a team.
If you have specific skills and experience you think might be particularly useful then we would love to hear about this when you apply. We will do our best to align you with a volunteer role that suits you.
Remote volunteers likely required to:
- Facilitate zoom chat
- Manage and facilitate Slack chat
- Respond to queries about remote dial-ins
- Communicate with the in-person committee about problems in real time
- Facilitate social events online
- Facilitate remote networking
